What is gene therapy?
Uses recombinant DNA technology for the treatment of genetic diseases
What does gene therapy involve the introduction of?
Functional copies of an allele into an organism which possesses defective alleles of the same gene
What are the stages in the gene therapy process?
Identifying the cause, obtaining and cloning copies of the functional allele, transferring functional alleles into the patient, ensuring the alleles work normally
