proximity is grouping elements that are placed close together can be perceived as part of the same group, that they
are connected.

contrast elements and principles such as
colours and pattern or shapes.
Depending on its use, figure-ground can
determine what we see first.

When looking at images
with empty parts, we fill them in to make
complete images.

This is similar to proximity but think MOVEMENT
Perceive elements moving (or that appear to be moving) in the same direction as related to each other eg: think birds example.
