not one 1st line
-stool helicobacter antigen test
-lab based serology
-urea 13C breath test
Do not do urea 13C breath test if- within 2 weeks of treatment with PPI or within 4 weeks of antibiotic treatment
mangement for H. Pylori
1st= PPI + amoxicillin + clarythromycin OR metranidazole
2nd= same again but use whichever agent not used
penicillin allergic= PPI + clarythromycin + metranidazole
retest in >4 weeks with Urea 13C breath test
what investigation is used to check for H.pylori erradication
urea 13c breath test
-but should not be performed <2 weeks PPI or <4 weeks antibiotic treatment
C diff causing drugs
Clyndamicin
Cephalosporins (cephalaxin, cefiximine)
Carbamepans (meropenem)
Ciprofloxacin (and other quinolones)
Coamoxiclav
