what is the difference between GER (gastroesophageal reflux) and GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease)?

A

GER- the passage of gastric content into the esophagus.

GERD- chronic from of GER but you have tissue damage to respiratory structures which can lead to pneumonia and bronchospasms
