What are Glomerular diseases and how are they categorized?

A

Glomerulonephritis is a spectrum of diseases affecting the glomerulus

Categorized by its presentations
If proteinuria side (nephrotic) or haematuria side (nephritic) depends on the cause

(SLE could be on either!)

What is the pathology of nephritic

A

Nephritic syndrome is usually associated with inflammation of the glomerular capsule.

How does nephritic syndrome present?

A

Triad cardinal signs:

Haematuria - visible or non- visible
Proteinuria - (<1g, sub-nephrotic)
Hypertension

Sometimes oliguria, pruritus, lethargy, oedematous and nausea

RPGN - Fatigu/sob/cough
