Trinity

Intended to show Jesus came from God and therefore divine

Meaning the messiah (someone sent by God to bring peace)
Messiah
Someone sent by God to bring peace and harmony into the world at time of need
Last Supper

Jesus meal with disciples
Jewish festival of Passover ( to celebrate when God saved Jewish ancestors the Israelites from slavery in Egypt)
Symbolic food - unleavened bread and wine
Jesus spoke like he knew he was close to death - bread as his body and wine as his blood
Crucifixion
Ancient method of execution

Nailed or tied to large wooden cross and left to die
Often already beaten
May have to carry one beam to place where nailed on and erected
Nailed ankles or feet too, sometime break legs so can’t support weight
Died of suffocation, poisoning, blood loss, shock etc
Atonement
Christians say….
Jesus death brought atonement as humans could be “at one” with God once again
Jesus died to bridge the gap between humanity and God, separated by sin
Jesus sacrificed himself and suffered to pay for sins of humanity
Eucharist
‘Thanksgiving’
Relates to Jesus words at last supper
Also known as Holy communion, mass, the lords supper
Bread and wine (flesh and blood) shared in remembrance of his life sacrifice

An outward physical sign of inward invisible connection with God and a person
Eg the Eucharist
Resurrection
After Jesus body had been wrapped and placed in tomb on Friday and left for sabbath day, friends returned Sunday and he was gone.
He appeared outside another tomb in bodily form
Stories of him walking with 2 disciples to another village from Jerusalem
He was teaching disciples to have faith and continue his teachings
Ascension
After resurrection and visiting many people over many days, Christians believe Jesus left the living world and ascended to heaven to be with God
Eternal life
The resurrection following Jesus death lead to Christian belief that those who follow have faith in him to enter a new never ending life of pure happiness

Good friday
Most serious somber day of Christian year
Recalls death of Jesus by crucifixion

Christians mourn and meditate over Jesus suffering

Jesus used parables for his teachings
Parable is a story with a meaning that teaches a lesson
Often familiar subject so people could relate….farming or family
Golden rule
LOVE
Love God with all of your heart soul and mind
Main one is -Love your neighbours as yourself
Christians believe love should be selfless just as Jesus was
Agape
Greek word Type of love Selfless, no expectation in return Actions of love not just feelings Unconditional, every human as deserving

Holy book of Christians
Contains 66 books written over 1000 years
Can learn about God through stories of Jesus
How to live and worship
Devotion to God and for deeper understanding
