Q

Problems with fundamental views

A

Epistemic distance-there is a gap in knowledge between what God wants us to do and what we think he wants us to do
Translations of the Bible changes meaning and so may change how one takes the law
Eg.Women shouldn’t speak in church (speak in Greek could also be gossip/chatter). Changing how you take it literally

Q

Conservative Christian view

A

Bible written by humans inspired by God
Follow its teachings but don’t necessarily take every word as being voice of God
Eg. One of God’s days may not necessarily be the same length of one of our(Hebrew word ‘Yom’ Could also be translated as ‘Period of time’
Genesis is just a poetic list and not necessarily in order
