What is morphology?
The structure of words
What are morphemes?
The smallest units of meaning within a language
What are prefixes?
Words of the start of the word used to modify the meaning
What are suffixes?
Words at the end of a word used to modify the meaning
What are libfixes?
An ethics that comes from part of another word E.G. vacation becomes staycation
What are noun types?
Common- what you can sense
proper- names
abstract- state of mind (love)
collective- group (murder of crows)
What are verb types?
Active- physical processes
Stative- emotional processes
What are adverb types?
Time
place
manner
degree (reasonably)
number
un/certainty (perhaps)
interrogative
What are adjective types?
Determiner
distributive
interrogative

What are articles?
Definite (the)
indefinite (an, a)
What is ellipsis?
The emission of a word or words replaced by three fullstops
What are sentence moods?
Imperative (command)
interrogative (question)
exclamatory (expressive)
declarative (statement)
What is a negation?
The opposite meaning of the original statement.
What is the active voice?
The subject of the statement performs the action
What is the passive voice?
The subject of the sentence receives the action
What is syndetic listing?
Listing with conjunctions
What is asyndetic listing?
Listing without conjunctions
What is a triadic structure?
Groups of three within a text
What is an anaphora?
The repetition of a word or phrase at the beginning of successive clauses
What is a cataphoric reference?
Referring to part of a text which has not yet been mentioned
What is syntactic dislocation?
Using a proper noun and a pronoun in one sentence.
What is a chiasmus?
Reversal in the order of words into otherwise parallel phrases
What is a hypophora?
Asking a question and then answering it
What is an epizeuxis?
Repetition of the same word for emphasis
