Implicit vs explicit knowledge

Implicit knowledge is knowledge that allows it to perform something without necessarily being able to explain how or why. When we learn a language at a young age we usually primarily learn implicit knowledge. Procesural memory systems (implicit knowledge) are faster in actual use situations than declarative memory systems (explicit knowledge). However it is easier and faster to acquire explicit knowledge.
