FBC - leukocytosis, low platelets, anaemia
- Bone marrow biopsy
*Prolonged PT and APTT

What is immune thrombocytopenia
A
Immune mediated reduction in platelet count - type 2 hypersensitivity reaction

Px of ITP
A
- brusing, petechial rash, bleeding less common but can present are bleeding gums or epistaxis

Ix for ITP
A
FBC - isolated thrombocytopenia
Blood film
Bone marrow biopsy only if atypical features - lymph nodes or splenomegaly

Mx of ITP
A
- Usually no treatment

A
APTT - intrinsic pathway - clotting factors and genetic conditions
PT - Extrinsic pathway - warfarin, vit K, liver disease
