Q

intrinsic muscles of hand: thenar and hypothenar

A

-originate inside the hand
-thenar, hypothenar, interossei and the lumbrical muscles
-Thenar Muscles: (Median Nerve): fine movements of the thumb (lateral)
-opposition abduction flexion at thumb
All- Abductor Pollicus Brevis
For- Flexor Pollicus Brevis
One- Oppones Pollicus
And- Adductor Pollicus- ULNAR NERVE

-Hypothenar Muscles: (Ulnar Nerve)
-opposition abduction and flexion at pinky
One- Oppones Digiti Minimi
For- Flexor digiti minimi

Q

median, radial, ulnar nerve deficits in the hand

A

-cant perform rock position - median nerve injury -> flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor carpi radialis, palmaris longus
-cant perform paper - radial nerve (posterior interosseous nerve) -> extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis
-cant perform scissors (ab and adduct)- ulnar nerve -> dorsal and palmar interossei muscles
