Q

what happens in a low oxygen enviroment

A

if there is not muchoxygen present heamoglobin will dissocate with oxygen

Q

what happensto oxyheamoglobin if there is more co2 more

A

more co2 heamoglobin dissocates with oxygen much faster compared to when there isn’t

Q

ifwhat does more co2 mean

A

reduces the affinity for heamoglobin- shifts to the right

Q

what is the dissocation curve of a illama and why

A

llamas live in a low oxygen environment there fore have a higher affinity with oxygen thus the dissocation curve shifts to the right as heamoglobin gives of oxygen more readily

13
Q

what is the dissociation curve of an egal

A

egals need lots of oxygen and so heamoglobins affinity with oxgen is lower so this dissociation curve shifts to the left

14
Q

why is the dissociation curve ‘s’ - shaped

A

becuase the first molecule is hard to bind to the heamoglobin, but once the firstone is bound it is much eaiser for the second and third to bind increasing the rate, however it is harder for the last molecule to bind
