What are the differences between AOM, OME, AND OE

A

AOM-moderate to tympanic membrane bulging and ear pain for less than 48 hours, primarily bacterial or viruses first line treatment Amoxicillin 90mg/ kg divided in 2 doses
OME- fluid in middle ear w/o signs/ symptoms of acute ear infection may have fluctuating hearing loss, balance problems, mainly caused by viruses or eustachian tube dysfunction treatment involves watchful waiting and tympanostomy tubes
OE- inflammation of external auditory canal, primarily bacterial but can also be fungal, allergic, or dermatological, treatment focused on reducing inflammation, infection and pain typically topically

A

vision loss, ciliary flush, corneal white spot, eye pain, (malaise, headache, nausea, vomiting)

What are the similarities and differences between a cold and the flu?

A

Cold- sneezing, tiredness
Flu- fever, chills, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
Similar- sore throat, runny nose, stuffy nose, cough, headache, body aches, chest discomfort
