Q

what is femoroacetabular impingement?

A

movement related disorder which involves symptomatic contact between the femoral head and acetabulum due to changes in their morphology

Q

what is Pincer FAI?

8
Q

what is CAM FAI?

A

femoral head and the neck relationship is aspherical (not perfectly round) contributing to abnormal contact between head and socket

Q

what is arterial compromise?

A

kinking of the external iliac artery from repeated movements, compressing and narrowing the arteries and reducing blood flow to the soft tissues

Q

what are myositis ossifications?

A

calcification occurring in the soft tissues, usually after a haemotoma / contusion injury. new bone cells form between the torn muscle fibres

Q

what two tests would you do for a stress fracture?

18
Q

what two tests would you do for deep gluteal syndrome?

A

Pace’s sign (resisted abduction and external rotation)
FADIR

19
Q

what two tests would you do for inguinal related pain?

A

resisted sit up
valsalva manoeuvre (deep breath, close mouth, pinch nose, breathe out forcefully)

20
Q

what two test would you do for iliopsoas pain?

A

resisted hip flexion
modified thomas test

21
Q

what tests would you do for a hamstring injury?

A

resisted knee flexion
single leg raise (stretch)

22
Q

what two tests would you do for adductor related pain?

A

adductor squeeze
pain with passive adductor stretch

23
Q

what two tests would you do for GTPS?

A

gluteal tendon load
FABER - lateral hip pain
single leg stand for 30 seconds

24
Q

what is quadriceps contusion?

A

deep bruising to thigh muscle (usually vastus lateralis) caused by a direct blow / impact
causes rupture to muscle fibres at or adjacent to the area of impact, usually leading to haemotoma formation within the muscle
can lead to compartment syndrome or myositis ossifications
