Tensor Fasciae Latae

A

PA: Anterior iliac crest, lateral surface of ASIS and a portion of the border of the notch below it

DA: Iliotibial band and hence to the lateral tibial condyle at Gerdy’s tubercle of the tibia

Innervation: Superior gluteal nerve L4, L5, S1

Actions: Extends and External Rotation of the knee; Flexes abducts, and Internally rotates the hip; Dynamic stabilization of the knee

Biceps Femoris

A

PA: Long head = Upper ischial tuberosity
Short head = lateral lip of linea aspera inferior to the gluteus maximus attachment; proximal 1/2 of the lateral supracondylar line

DA: Fibular head, LCL of knee, lateral tibial condyle

Innervation: Long Head= tibial division of sciatic L5, S1, S2
Short head: common peroneal division of sciatic L5, S1, S2

Actions: Flexes the knee, extends the hip; secondarily laterally rotates hip and knee

DA: Lateral patella by quads tendon; tibial tuberosity by patellar tendon; blends with lateral aspect of fibrous joint capsule of the knee

Actions: Extends knee and stabilizes the patella

DA: Medial patella by quad tendon; tibial tuberosity by patellar tendon; blends with medial aspect of fibrous joint capsule of knee

Innervation: Femoral n. L2,3,4

Actions: Extends the knee; stabilizes the patella

Actions: Unlocks the extended knee; OKC=IR of tibia; CKC=ER of femur
