Engineers of the time were building increasingly more complicated technological systems, to the point where their abilities to build these complex systems exceeded their ability to explain how they should be used
Why user interfaces of complex technology had to be simplified
As progressively more advanced technology migrated out of factories and the military and into the hands of consumers, it became more important than ever to simplify user interfaces and empower people to complete desired tasks.
