How did Hitler get rid of the communists?

The Reichstag Fire 1933. Blamed a Dutch alleged communist Marinus Van Der Lubbe. Allowed him to persuade Hindenburg to issue Enabling Act.

Night of the Long Knives

Hitler purged members of the SA including Ernst Rohm in June 1934.

The SS

The SS were the special force who dealt with the executions and were Hitler's close + trusted allies.

Gestapo

They were the secret police who would have lots of information on people and they would report anything suspicious to the SS.

Where were people taken if they werent executed?

Concentration camps.

What did Hitler ban?

He banned Trade Unions and replaced with the German Labour Front.

What did Hitler gain control over (law)?

Courts and civil services.

The minister of propaganda. He made sure that everything that was published and distributed was approved.

Bomb Plot July 1944 - following it 5000 army members were executed.
