Q

how do endothermic animals prevent body temperature from decreasing

A

peripheral receptors are stimulated. This sends impulses to the hypothalamus. Vasoconstriction occurs where heat loss is reduced by radiation. Increased metabolic rate generates energy. Shivering generates heat energy. Erector hair muscles trap air.

Q

how does sweating regulate body temperature.

A

heat energy from blood in capillaries is absorbed by sweat which breaks the hydrogen bonds in water so it evaporates providing a cooling effect.
