Hookes Law Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
Hooke’s Law
A
Force is Directly proportional to extensiun until elastic limit
2
Q
Elastic Limit
A
Material with resistance applied does not return to original shape - permenantly stretched
3
Q
Practical to determine relationship between extension and force
A
- Attach spring to clamp stand
- Measure initial length of spring using a ruler
- use a set square to avoid parrallac error
- Attach mass to spring
- Measure final length
- Repeat with different masses
- repeat each mass three times and caluclate average
- Calculate change in length = extension
- Force = mass x gravity
- Plot a graph force against extension
