pathway

A
  • originates at HT
  • spreads over HT then goes to diaphragm to connect to SI then runs back along throat and connects to eyes
  • external branch emerges at middle of axilla
  • travels down medial side of upper arm to ulnar end of cubital crease
  • continues down forearm along radial side of flexor carpi ulnaris to pisiform region proximal to palm then passes through palm
  • terminates at end of radial side of little finger

A

longitudinal - follows primary meridian to HT then ascends to tongue and finally to eyes
transverse - luo pt of HT meridian HT 5 to yuan pt of SI meridian SI4

A

centre of axilla, anterior side of axillary artery

F: regulate qi+xue, relieve congestion in chest, clear HT fire, calm the mind
I: cardiac pain, scrofula+pain in shoulder+arm, hypochondriac pain, dry throat, polydipsia

A

when elbow flexed, midpoint line joining medial end of transverse crease and medial epicondyle of humerus
He-Sea pt

F: reg HT qi, clear heat in PC, calm mind+remove PHL
I: cardiac pain, scrofula, spasmodic pain of elbow+arm, trembling hands, pain in head+nape, toothache, pain in axilla+hypochondriac, epilepsy, abnormal laughing

A

1 cun above transverse crease of wrist radial to FCU
Luo pt, connect with SI-M

F: regulate HT qi, calm the mind
I: heavy menstrual flow, amenorrhagia, palpitations, sudden loss of voice, aphasia with stiff tongue, pain in wrist+posterior aspect medial upper arm +shoulder

F: clear HT fire, subdue deficient heat, calm the mind
I: cardiac pain, palpitations, haematemesis, epistaxis, loss of voice, night sweats, hectic tidal fever, abnormal fright+fear

A

ulnar end of transverse crease, depression radial to FCU tendon
shu-stream pt, yuan pt

F: regulate qi+xue, calm the mind, subdue deficient heat
I: irritability, pain in chest+palpitations, hypochondriac pain, dizziness, insomnia, amnesia, yu syndrome, pus in stools, haematemesis
