Hypersensitivity AB Flashcards
(7 cards)
What are 4 examples of type 1 hypersensitivity reactions?
Atopy
Asthma
Angioedema
Anaphylaxis
What are 4 examples of type 2 hypersensitivity reactions?
Transfusion reactions
Rheumatic heart disease
Anti-GBM disease
Hashimoto’s
What are 4 examples of type 3 hypersensitivity reactions?
Serum sickness Rheumatoid arthritis SLE Glomerulonephritis/vasculitis Extrinsic allergic alveolitis
What are 4 examples of type 4 hypersensitivity reactions?
Mantoux reaction Chronic transplant rejection Multiple sclerosis SJS/TEN DRESS Contact eczema
What is the mechanism of hypersensitivity in type 1 hypersensitivity?
IgE is bound to mast cells. Allergens bind, cause cross-linking of IgE which induces degranulation
What is the mechanism of hypersensitivity in type 2 hypersensitivity?
Cells are destroyed by bound antibody, either by:
- Activation of complement
- A cytotoxic T cell with an Fc receptor for the antibody (ADCC)
What is the mechanism of hypersensitivity in type 3 hypersensitivity?
Ag-Ab complexes are deposited in tissue, causing activation of complement
