hypersensitivity reactions Flashcards
(11 cards)
exampls of type 1 hypersensitivity reactions
anaphylaxis
atopy - asthma, ezema, hayfever
type 1 hypersensitivity mechanism
antigen reacts wit IgE bound to mast cells
4 types of hypersensitivity
1 = anaphylactic
II = cell bound
III = immune complex
IV = delayed hypersensitivity
type II mechanism
IgG or IgM binds to antigen on cell surface
(cell bound)
examples of type II
autoimmune haemolytic anaemia
ITP
goodpastures
Pernicious anaemia
acute haemolytic transfusion reaction
rheumatic fever
pemphigus vulgaris/bullous pemphigoid
type III mechanism
free antigen + antibody (IgG, IgA) combine
(immune complex)
exampls of type III
post strep glomerulonephritis
hypersensitivity pneumonitis (esp acute phase)
SLE !!
type IV mechanism
T-cell mediated
(delayed hypersensitivity)
type OV examples
tuberculosis
graft vs host
allergic contact dermatitis
Multiple sclerosis
guillain barre
scabies
extrinsic allergic alveolitis
type V mechanism (new!)
antibodies recognise + bind to cell surface receptors
either stimulated them or blocking ligand binding
type V examples
graves
myasthenia
