  • It is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism
  • An autoimmune disease in which the antibodies are PRODUCED and ACTIVATING the TSH receptor
  • Goiter and Hyperthyroidism are induced by the THYROID STIMULATING ANTIBODY that resembled action of TSH
  • 6x more commonly in women than in men
    Causes Exophthalmos and Pretibial Myxedema

  • PLUMMER’S DISEASE or TOXIC MULTINODULAR GOITER is considered to be SECOND MOST COMMON CAUSE OF HYPERTHYROIDISM
  • Mostly occur in Fifth decade of life in both male and female

  • It starts with symptoms of hyperthyroidism then progresses to hypothyroidism
    EXOPHTHALMUS and MYXEDEMA are NOT EVIDENT
