- Applied to a GROUP OF SYNDROMES caused by HIGH LEVEL OF FREE THYROID HORMONES in the circulation
- PLUMMER’S DISEASE or TOXIC MULTINODULAR GOITER is considered to be SECOND MOST COMMON CAUSE OF HYPERTHYROIDISM
- Mostly occur in Fifth decade of life in both male and female

- Develops among women within 12 weeks after parturition
- It has autoimmune relatedness with PAINLESS or ENLARGEMENT OF THYROID
- It starts with symptoms of hyperthyroidism then progresses to hypothyroidism
EXOPHTHALMUS and MYXEDEMA are NOT EVIDENT
