A

Caused by autoimmune inflammation of thyroid gland where body’s immune system attacks thyroid gland.

Most common in 1st world countries.

How to tell difference between primary and secondary hypothyroidism?

A

Check TSH levels from pituitary gland and t3 + t4 from thyroid gland

if TSH high and T3 + T4 LOW it is primary thyroidism

If TSH low and T3 + T4 low it is secondary thyroidism
