Immunity Flashcards
What are antigen
Antigens are protein which when in the body cause the body to release antibody
Hapten is
A small molecule that cannot elicit an antibody production
But can do it when combined with a larger protein
Adadptive immunity consist only of
Lymphocyte and their product
Macrophages
Basophils e
Eosinophils
Mast cells
Humoral immunity of the adaptive immunity is majorly controlled by
B lymphocyte
Cellular immunity of the adaptive immunity is majorly controlled by
T lymphocyte
Humoral immunity protect the body against ——- with what
Extracellular microbes with B lymphocyte
Cellular immunity protect the body against ——- with what
Intracellular microbes with T lymphocyte
Lymphoid oragan are divided into 2 namely
Primary or generative
Secondary
T cells are produced from what organ
Thymus
B cells are produced from what organ
Bone marrow
Primary lymphoid organ includes
Thymus and bone marrow
Secondary lymphoid organs include
Lymph nodes
MALT ( mucosa associated lymphoid tissue ) of the GIT
respiratory tract
Spleen
In the spleen B cells and T cells are found where
B cells are found at red pulp
T cells are found at white pulp
RAG 1 defeciency leads to
Inability to produce mature lymphocyte
Helper T cells does
Stimulating the production of B cells to produce antibodies
What constitutes 60% to 70% of the lymphoid population
T cells
What constitutes 10% to 20% of the lymphoid population
B cells
After B cells are stimulated by antigen they do what
Convert into plasma cells which produce antibodies
Effector cells in immunity are
Activated lymphocyte
Macrophages kill microbes that have been opsonized by
Ig G and C3B
The dendritic cell that presents antigen to B cells are
Follicular dendritic cell
The dendritic cell that presents antigen to T cells are
Interdigitating dendritic cells
Follicular dendritic cells are found in
Lymphoid follicles
Interdigitating dendritic cells are found
Under the epithelia wheee microbes enter the body
