Maysara Pinot Noir (wine notes)

family owned winery. Iranian immigrants. This bottle is run by the eldest daughter. Named for “Jamsheed,” a Persian king who could “look into his glass and see his whole kingdom” - 100% estate grown - McMinnville, OR. grown in 2014, reserved until “just right” for selling - aged 12 months, 10% new oak, 90% used. Tasting: complex aromas, black/red fruits, lengthy tannins. Lighter body than many pinot noirs. Pair with lighter proteins like duck or fish, cauliflower

Maysara Pinot Gris (wine notes)

A

family owned winery. Iranian immigrants. This bottle is run by the youngest daughter. McMinnville, OR. Named for “Arsheen,” an Archaemenian princess from 500 BC who was an ancient “sommelier” - able to identify wine grapes and growing regions by smelling and tasting. Family uses “biodynamics,” to grow, i.e. using organic materials in every possible way in the growing process. Bottle is aged 11 months in stainless steel. Tasting: lemon, honey on the nose. Bright, poppy, medium body. Pair with produce, especially okra.
