Q

Weaknesses

A

Case studies are used there are few participants can’t generalise findings - Freud individual problems reflects his experiences his phobia of dad is unique unlikely someone else has the same problem
Case study method gain a more holistic approach researchers can become emotionally attached which can bias factors - was eves case of MPD real of was just a good factor
Tends to rely on dispositions explanations than situational ones and ignores the situation people are in - Rosenhan misinterpreted as being part of an illness in fact it was result of hospital and they weren’t real patients shows that they assume people experience similar symptoms and that it is down to illness and not environment
