Inquiry Flashcards
(7 cards)
What is layer 2 of the 3 layers of inquiry?
Layer 2 is continuing dialogue about what was noticed - through skilful questioning placed in a personal context of understanding.
What is layer 3 of the 3 layers of inquiry
The emerging characteristics of the experience linked to the ultimate aim by placing it in a wider context of understanding.
What is Kolb’s model of adult learning?
The learning circle!
One round round the circle forms a foundation for the next.
The starting point: experience
Reflection: mindful awareness of what happened
Context: making sense of what was observed
Invitation: implications? How might this learning
apply to future action. How might you behave differently?
What are the aims and intentions of inquiry
To tune the way participants bring mindful awareness to their experience. Instructor showing interest in the details of experience is the training.
What are suitable questions from the inquirer?
Eg:
Where in the body was the sensation most intense?
How did it change over time?
What thoughts and feelings accompanied it?
How did you respond to it?
What are the key messages behind the inquirers questions?
Awareness of exp is important.
Mindfulness is about a sense of knowing, in detail, what is happening in experience, moment by moment, rather than than resting attention in one particular place.
Mindfulness includes knowing what is happening in the mind generally (eg how one is reacting emotionally)
What are the 1st of the 3 layers of inquiry
In layer 1 what participants actually noticed. Thoughts feelings body sensations.
