Which conditions involving sleep require DVLA notification?
Obstructive sleep apnoea of any severity

Who should not be prescribed short-term hypnotics?
Patients who are pregnant, elderly, or breastfeeding
When should pharmacological therapy in short-term insomnia be considered?
When sleep hygiene measures have failed AND daytime sleepiness is impairing function AND insomnia is likely to resolve
Recommended follow up time for insomnia treatment?
2-4 weeks dependent upon clinical situation
Licensing for daridoxent in insomnia?
For long-term insomnia where CBT/sleep hygiene measures have failed and daytime functioning considerably impaired
What is NOT recommended to treat insomnia?
OTC medicines for insomnia
If there is no response to a hypnotic should another be prescribed?
No- even if different MOA
Sleep hygiene measures
Avoid blue light 1 hour before bed
Avoid nicotine/alcohol 2 hours before bed
Avoid caffeine after mid-day
