Intervention Planning Flashcards
(14 cards)
Levels of Intervention
- Adjunctive activities
- Enabling activities
- Purposeful activities
- Occupation-based activities
Adjunctive activities
★ initial step in the intervention process
★ prepares client for occupational performance
Enabling activities
★ exercises or ways to condition the body in order to achieve the goal
★ may include ROM techniques, muscle conditioning, schedules, pacing, coping strategies, time management, and medication management
Purposeful activities
★ activities that have a relevant goal & are meaningful to the client
★ practicing activities
Occupation-based activities
★ client-centered activities & goals
★ therapist involvement decreases
★ client learns to perform at max capacity
Grading Up
If the task is too easy, or the client has mastered the skill, increasing the challenge of the task is necessary.
★ When upgrading a task, selecting ONE measurable piece of the original activity and increasing the difficulty of that by one degree offers the appropriate upgrade
Harm reduction strategies
Focus on engaging the client and addressing dangerous behaviors
★ encourages collaboration and focus on stabilization rather than full recovery
What are the 4 Ps of Energy Conservation?
- Prioritize
- Plan
- Pace
- Position
Prioritize
(4 Ps of energy conservation)
★ Decide what needs to be done today and what can wait
Plan
(4 Ps of energy conservation)
★ Gather supplies & equipment
★ Have a seat available for a rest break
★ Allow enough time to complete the task
Pace
(4 Ps of energy conservation)
★ Avoid rushing
★ Take frequent rest breaks
Position
(4 Ps of energy conservation)
★ Consider body positions required to complete the task
★ Avoid bending & reaching
Purpose of implementing energy conservation techniques
★ Allow for activities to be completed in a way to minimize muscle fatigue, joint stress, & pain
In consideration to energy conservation techniques, breaking up the task into smaller tasks is an example of?
