A

Defect in cortex of chosen tibia:
1. Fracture of that bone
2. Previous attempts which penetrated the cortex of that bone
3. Infected skin overlaying insertion site

A
  1. Damage to bone growth plate
  2. Infection
  3. Possible fracture of the site (excessive force)
  4. Extravasation - check site frequently for signs of swelling and needle displacement
