Investigate the influence of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis Flashcards
(2 cards)

Q
Method
A
- Add excess sodium bicarbonate to a test tube to saturate the water with carbon dioxide.
- Cut a section of elodea and place it in a test tube.
- Place test tube in a water bath (constant temperature).
- Start with the lamp 1m from the elodea.
- Count the number of bubbles of oxygen coming from the cut end of the stem per minute.
- Move the lamp closer and closer and continue to get the rate of bubble (oxygen production)
2
Q
Results
A
- As you move lamp closer to elodea, the rate of oxygen production increased.
- There comes point where the rate of oxygen production hits a maximum (light saturated)
