Muhammad flies on a winged horse (Buraq) with Angel Gabriel from Mecca to Jerusalem through the 7 heavens. Muhammad reaches the Throne of God and gets closest to God anyone ever has before. Ascension is known as Mi’raj.
The dome of the rock is located in Jerusalem where ascension happened and is considered one of the most sacred places for Islam.
