(8 cards)
Good/Evil
Concepts relating to what is morally right (good) and wrong (evil). Often discussed in religious contexts as forces or choices that align with or oppose God’s will.
Forgiveness
Letting go of blame or resentment toward someone who has wronged you. Central to many religions (e.g. Christianity teaches to forgive as God forgives).
Free Will
The ability to choose between different courses of action voluntarily. Important in discussions of moral responsibility and sin.
Justice
Fairness; ensuring people get what they deserve. Religiously, it is seen as a virtue and part of God’s nature (e.g. in Islam, Allah is just).
Morality
Principles or rules about what is right and wrong, often shaped by religion, culture, or personal beliefs.
Pacifism
The belief that violence and war are always wrong and that conflicts should be resolved peacefully. Many Quakers are pacifists.
Conscience
The inner sense of right and wrong that guides a person’s moral decisions. Some believe it is the voice of God within.
Suffering
The experience of pain or distress. Raises questions about the existence of evil and why a loving God allows it.
