What is a Nuclear Family?
A family unit consisting of two parents and their biological or adopted children living together. Often viewed as the ‘traditional’ family structure.
What is an Extended Family?
A family that includes additional relatives beyond the nuclear family, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, living together or nearby.
What is a Single-Parent Family?
A family headed by one adult raising one or more children on their own due to divorce, separation, or death of a partner.
What is a Blended (Reconstituted) Family?
A family formed when two people with children from previous relationships marry or cohabit, combining their families.
What is a Same-Sex Family?
A family where the parents are of the same gender. May include biological or adopted children.
What is a Childless Family?
A couple without children, either by choice or circumstance. Still considered a family unit.
