A

widespread itch

linear burrows on Side of fingers, interdigital webs and flexor aspects of the wrist

What is the treatment of scabies?

A
  1. permethrin 5%
  2. malathion 0.5%
  3. avoid close physical contact w others
  4. wash clothes, bedding etc on first day of rx to kill of mites

When applying permethrin/malathion - cover all the skin

A

same as adults but face and scalp can be affected

What is crusted scabies? what is rx?

A

Seen in immunosuppressed, esp HIV
Crusted skin teeming with hundreds of organisms
Rx: ivermectin and isolation

A

Itch can persist after giving initial rx as mite burrows and leaves debris deep
