What happened at the crucifixion of Jesus?

  • Jesus was arrested and sentenced to death for blasphemy (claiming to be the Son of God) and seen as a threat to Roman rule.
  • He was mocked, beaten, and made to wear a crown of thorns
  • Jesus was nailed to the cross and crucified between two criminals.
    “They crucified him.”
  • On the cross, Jesus said, “Father, forgive them…” showing His love and forgiveness, even to his enemies.
  • Roman centurion said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” – showing His identity was recognised even in death

What happened at the Last Supper?

  • During the Last Supper, Jesus predicted one of his discples would betray him
  • In rememberance of Jesus’ death, Jesus said “drink from it, this is the new covanent in my blood”
  • This quote shows due to his sacrifice Jesus was about to make, a new relationship between man and God would be formed
