What does ‘Incarnation’ mean and why is it important to Christians?
A
- The Incarnation is the belief that God became human in the person of Jesus Christ
- It is important to Christians because it reveals God’s love, offers salvation, and provides a model for human life

Evidence to show Jesus was fully God
A
- “The Word was God” which shows Jesus is eternal and divine. e.g shows Jesus was present at Creation (John 1 links to Genesis 1)
- “Lazarus, come out!” which shows Jesus has power over death. e.g he raised Lazarus from the dead
- “Quiet! Be still!” which shows Jesus controls nature. e.g he calmed a storm on the sea instantly
- “I and the Father are one.” which shows Jesus claimed equality with God. e.g jewish leaders tried to stone Him for claiming to be God.

- “Jesus wept.” which shows human emotion e.g Jesus cried when Lazarus died
- “He was hungry.” which shows Jesus had physical needs e.g after 40 days of fasting, he was weak and tempted
- “Into your hands I commit my spirit.”
which shows Jesus experienced human death e.g his final words before dying on the cross

What does “fully human” and “fully divine” mean?
A
- Jesus had a divine nature ( performed miracles, forgave sins )
- Jesus had a human nature ( felt pain, hunger, emotion )
