KA7 U1 Flashcards
(11 cards)
Glucose in broken into what
2 molecules of pyruvate, this releases enough energy to produce 2 ATP
Further breakdown depends on 2 factored
O2 present or not present
If o2 is present it’s
Aerobic respiration
If o2 isn’t present
It’s fermentation
Aerobic respiration
When aerobic respiration takes place, each pyruvate molecules is broken down to carbon dioxide and water
Once that stuff is done for aerobic respiration what’s released
Releasing enough energy to make a large number of ATP molecules
Fermentation
Long story short, pyruvate molecules are converted to lactate
Where does respiration begin
In the cytoplasm. And is completed their for fermentation
But what about for aerobic completion
Mitochondria
