Who is Gaby?
the child of Alicia and Ibanez - she was adopted
Who is Alicia?
the mother of Gaby, main character, curious about where Ibanez got Gaby and how he got her, she teaches high school history

a shady guy, got Gaby (paid the captors to get her), husband to Alicia
Who is Ana?
Alicia’s bestie, was held captive for about 36 days, her captor wanted to keep her to himself and saved her from rape
What was going on where Ana was held?
Mothers in there being killed, their children were sold
What happens after Ana tells Alicia about what happened?
she becomes skeptical, goes to plaza de mayo to watch the protest
What happens when Ibanez tells Alicia he’s going on a trip?
she doesn’t want him to go because she is scared, asks about Gaby (says she isn’t her legitimate daughter) and he says it is pointless to think about
What does Alicia do due to curiosity and fear?
She goes snooping into Gaby’s records and goes to a hospital
what happens at the hospital?
she sees a woman giving birth, asks about the Dr who gave them Gaby - nurse says he left 3 years ago and to ask admin
How is Alicia feeling?
scared, guilty, she goes to confession and the priest tells her Gaby was placed with them for a reason and not to offend God by feeling guilty
What happens after the priest says she is not guilty?
he absolves her, and she presses him for information about Gaby, asking if he was there the day Gaby was given to them
What happens after the confession?
she brings Gaby to the Dr to get exact info on when she was born/medical history - asks Ana for help
Where does Alicia go to find out more information?
Some sort of record keep - she asks for records from 1978 and they do not have them
What happens at the family gathering?
Alicia presses Ibanez’s brother for info and he gets angry saying he does not know - tells her to ask Ibanez
What does Ibanez’s dad say?
they would get along better if he was a drunk, all Ibanez cares about is money, whole world has crumbled except the sons of bitches, the theives, the accomplices and his eldest son (Ibanez)
Does Alicia keep prying?
yes, she goes back and meets a woman who has info - says the birthday is between march 15 and 20 and the hospital records match up - could be Gaby’s grandma

Alicia’s coworker teacher, who has a crush on her?
What is going on between Benitez and Alicia?
nothing, but they meet at a cafe and he likes her hair down, and that he likes a wild woman (which she refers to herself as)
What happens when Alicia picks Gaby up from school?
The woman is there and tells her friends about it - Alicia hides Gaby in the car with regret
What happens when Ibanez comes home drunk?
Alicia asks about Gaby and Ana - he is being sus about both because things are not adding up
What happens when Alicia meets Gaby’s potential gma for coffee?
The woman shows Alicia pictures of her missing daughter who was pregnant, they both come to the realization that Gaby is likely her granddaughter

he moves all the paperwork and stuff out

Ana confronts him saying she knows that he ratted her out and that is why she was held captive
