Caecum features

A

Flabby, thin bag with brown intestinal contents. Terminates in appendix which contains lymphoid tissue in humans not rats. Breaks down cellulose. Bacteria.

A

Ascending on the right, transverse, descending towards rectum.
Semi-fluid leaving Caecum then downstream firm feces.

Kidney features

A

Buried in fat on the dorsal wall. Ventral surface covered in parietal peritoneum so retroperitoneal (behind peritoneum). Rich blood supply. Depression(hilus) on medial surface is the point where the artery vein and ureter access.

A

Small brown bodies on both kidneys. Outer crust secretes steroid hormones. The inner core, medulla, secretes ardrenalin.
