1

Biceps Brachii

Origin- Coracoid process and supraglenoid tubercle
Insertion- radial tuberosity of radius
Action- Flexes elbow(primary when supinated); flexes shoulder; supinates radioulnar joint

2

Brachialis

Origin-anterior-medial shaft of humerus
Insertion- coronoid process of ulna
Action- flexes elbow (primary when pronated)

3

Brachioradialis

Origin- lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- distal radius
Action- flexes elbow (primary when neutral)

4

Triceps Brachii

Origin-Infraglenoid tubercle; posterior humerus
Insertion- olecranon process of ulna
Action- extends elbow; extends shoulder

5

Pronator Teres

Origin- medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- proximal 1/3 radius
action- pronates radioulnar joint

6

Supinator

Origin- lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- proximal 1/3 radius
Action- supinates radioulnar joint

7

Flexor Carpi Radialis
*wrist flexor

Origin- medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- anterior lateral hand
Action- flexes wrist; radial deviation

8

Flexor Carpi Ulnaris
*wrist flexors

Origin- medial epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- anterior medial hand
Action- flexes wrist; ulnar deviation

9

Extensor Carpi Radialis Longus & Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis
*wrist extensor

Origin- lateral epicondyle of humerus
Insertion- posterior lateral hand
Action- Extends wrist; radial deviation

10

Extensor Carpi Ulnaris
*wrist extensor

Origin- lateral epicondyle of humerus

15

Rectus Abdominis

Origin- pubic bone and pubic symphysis
Insertion- xiphoid process; costal cartilage of ribs 5-7
Action- Flexes trunk; assists in forced expiration

16

Internal Obliques

Origin- lumbar fascia, iliac crest, and inguinal ligament
Insertion- linea alba and ribs 9-12
Action- Laterally flexes trunk; rotates to the same side; assists in forced expiration

17

External Obliques

Origin- Ribs 5-12
Insertion- linea alba
Action- Laterally flexes trunk; rotates to the opposite side; assists in forced expiration

18

Transversus Abdominis

Origin- lumbar fascia
Insertion- Linea alba
Action- Assists in forced expiration
