2
Q

what is epithilial tissue

A

Epithelial tissue (includes epithelia and glands) covers surfaces, lines cavities, and forms
secretory glands.

The cells in epithelial tissue are usually arranged in one or more layers, very
close together, and with very little extracellular matrix.

Q

What are three examples of epithelial tissue in the human body?

A

Skin, passageways in the kidneys, inside the eye, at the gas exchange surfaces (alveloi) of
the lungs + MANY OTHERS!

9
Q

what is and the function of connective tissue

A

it supports the body and varies widely in appearance and function. Connective tissue holds parts together, transports substances, and protects the body from foreign invaders.

Q

What type of sensation do Pacinian Corpuscles detect, and why might they be present in the
finger?

A

These receptors sense pressure and vibration - which you can imagine is important for the
“touch” sensation necessary for a finger to have. It allows you to know how hard or soft a
surface that you’re touching might be, or how much pressure you’re applying to something.

14
Q

what is, and the function of nervous tissue

A

it’s the most complex tissue of the body and provides communication between
various parts of the body, and integrates activities between them. The brain and spinal cord
are the control centers of the nervous system and account for most of the nervous tissue in
the body (>95%).

Q

what is the function of the muscle tissue

A

Movement is produced by muscle tissue, which is specialised for contraction.

A

Skeletal muscle
Cardiac muscle
Smooth muscle
