Lab pratictical Flashcards
What to do before cunducting radial pulse blood pressure and waiste circumference
Gather information regarding medical history, family histroy, social history, activity levels, goals, all in the consent form, get active questionare and the participation information sheeet.
Before gathering information it is important to
Introduce ourself with participant and state what u mans are gonna do
what is important to ask b4 doing anything
consent to touch and all and ask open ended qs when asking for information
How long and how should a participant be resting b4 measuring radial pulse
participant sitting with back resiting against the chair, whith feet flat on floor and arm on chair arm rest or table, FOR ATLEAST 5MIN
How do you measure radial pulse
using index and midle finger apply slight pressure on the radial artery just proximal to the thumb. while the participants arm is supinated. start timer for 15 seconds on the first beat and x4 at the end to get bpm
At what bpm should the particiapnt wait and repeat the procces
99 bpm bc it too high
When shoul the participand be reffered to thier physiscian according to the radial pulse
> or = 100 bpm after 2 tries
< 60 bpm
bradycardia
> 99 bpm
tachycardia
60 - 90 bpm
average range
where chould you mark the x on the participant while measuring resting blood pressure
on the brachial artery and ask for permision to palpate thier brachial artery
where should you wrap the cuff
2-3 cm above the antecubical space by 2-3 cm such that it surrounds the brachial artery
at what angle should the particicpants arm be sheli measing bp
10-45 degrees from the trunk, with the lower edge of the cuff at heart level
how much should you inflate the cuff too
20 - 30 mmhg above the estimated 120 so 150 mmhg
how fast should you release the cuff at
2 mmhg/seccond
