Q

Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR)

A

an approximation of creatinine clearance of the rate by which creatinine is filtered from the blood stream.
-Takes into account the pts age, sex, and race

eGRF: great than 90 to 120ml/min indicates normal kidney function

GFR: Above 70 for Men and Above 60 for women

Q

L-Lactate dehydrogenase (LD)

A

122-222 U/L

Elevated LD may be indicate of liver disease such as hepatitis

17
Q

D-Dimer

A

testing is utilized for the diagnosis of dep vein thrombosis of pulmonary embolism. Elevated amounts of D-dimer in the bloodstream may indicate recently degraded blood clots.

18
Q

Liver Function Test (LFT)

A

is used to screen for damage to the patients liver and consists of a panel of blood test that measure the levels of various enzymes and protein in circulating blood

19
Q

Coumadin/ Warfarin

A

an anticoagulant, used to prevent the iformation of blood clots in veins and arteries and may reduce the incidence of heart attack and stroke.

prone to excessive bleeding caused by truama.

20
Q

Metformin/ Glucophage

A

used to treat type 2 diabetes.

-pt may be instructed not to take metformin for up to 2 days after contrast study.

21
Q

Anxiolytic

A

prescribed to reduce patient anxiety during a CT scan such as:
1)Benzodiazepine:
-Diazepam (Valium,)
- alprazolam (xanax)
-clonazepam(Klonopin)
-Lorazepam(ativan))

2)Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors:
-Paroxetine (praxil)
-sertraline (zoloft)
-fluoxetine (prozac)
Escitalopram (Lexapro)
