What is lean production
A
Lean production: Has the aim of reducing wasted time and resources in the production process whilst maintaining quality.

What doe sit involve
A
Analysing the production line and looking for opportunities to streamline (make it smoother and quicker) the process.
Using computer aided design and manufacture.
Considering time as a valuable resource.
Reviewing stock management procedures - Is the stock stored for too long, leading to it going out of date. Is the stock valuable meaning you have to pay for security.
Getting employees involved.
Using a “pull” rather than “push” production. This could be only creating a product once an order has come in, this would lead to there being very little waste.
