Lecture 20 - Inheritance & Mendelian Laws Flashcards

1
Q

Mendel discovered 4 things, what are they?

A

Inheritance determinants (genes) come in pairs (mom & dad)

Law of dominance: phenotype with dominant allele

Laws of segregation: the two alleles of a gene seperate so tha each gamete recieves only one copy

Q

How did monohybrid crosses reject the theory of blending inheritance?

A
  • genes are physically distinct in nature
  • the genes remain intact
  • inheritance pattern comes from the presence of particular genes
