Flashcards in Lecture 22 Deck (3)

Mullerian mimicry:

- When 2 unpalatable species gain mutual benefit by resembling each other.
- The two species can share the load of consumed individuals
- The causality due to predation is n. n is reduced by mullerian mimicry

P is the mapping position:

- P is the target
- Everything can be measured in relation to P
- Linkage mapping -> BAC clone tile path -> annotation -> comparative organisation

Optix gene:

- refigured red patterns in the developing wings of butterfly
- cis-regulatory difference in the optix gene results in the variations in red pattern
