1
Q

Importance of Articulator Mounting

A

Easy to link 1 and 2 together, as they don’t move.

link 3 to 2 later on. Simplistic, but helps.

2
Q

Frankfort horizontal plane

A

Line that

defines the horizontal plane of the skull (i.e., 0o) so that other measures can be made more accurately.

3
Q

Forion

A

upper ear and (lower rim of orbit (orbital) (for frankfort horizontal plane)

4
Q

Ala-Tragus plane (Camper’s Plane)

A

Aesthetic line - get teeth
horizontal to this plane.
This is based on soft tissue, not
bone or anthropology.

5
Q

Arcon articulator question

A

Famous exam question - made up term from articlating condyle. In essence,
condyle in articulator matches human anatomy. If you were to unlock your machine,
you find that they match.

6
Q

Non-arcon articulators

A

Condyle part of maxillary - in essence, articulator in reverse. Same function.

7
Q

Bennett’s side shift

A

As it moves/rotates, it looks like it shifts sideways.

8
Q

Mandibular lateral translation/Bennett’s side shift

A

forward, downward, right. This can reflect in cusp heights.

9
Q

Triangular ridges

A

convex in all directions

10
Q

Increased VO vertical overlap

A

allows longer cusps

11
Q

Decreased VO

A

requires shorter cusps

12
Q

Increased HO requires horizontal overlap

A

shorter cusps

13
Q

Decreased HO

A

allows longer cusps
