Lecture 4 Radiographic Anatomy part 2 Flashcards
(61 cards)
How are x-rays produced?
Produced in a standard way, by accelerating electrons with a high voltage and allowing them to collide with a metal target.
when are x-rays released?
Released when electrons are suddenly decelerated upon collision with the metal target;
Suddenly decelerated electrons upon collision with metal target are commonly called?
Brehmsstrahlung or “braking radiation
Characteristic x-rays?
When electrons drop from higher states to fill the vacancy, emitting x-ray photons with precise energies determined by the electron energy levels.
Fuzzy edge of object in image is mostly produced by?
Scattered X-rays
If source/object distance increases
Penumbra will decrease
If object/receptor distance increases
Penumbra increases
Size of focal spot increases
Penumbra will increase
